Cutting-edge research and thoughts on all manner of topics each day escape the ivory tower and become more and more a subject of legal, political, social, and economic conversation in the general public. Often, they reach the water-cooler talks because they affect the debate over morals and practical living. Giant leaps forward in science and laws may turn out to be the new bloody crossroads of U.S. politics where advances in human knowledge meet deeply entrenched differences about what makes life as we know or want it, and where the American creed of progress meets the common-sense admonition against human pride. Few people will argue that medicine should be or is all about interfering with nature's ways--by battling disease, restoring health, and dealing with the dark side of nature. In a 2001 poll, most Americans believed that embryonic stem cell research is morally wrong and, yet, medically necessary. The paradox of religiosity and pragmatism living side by side in the American character is plainly evident.

In Don's Review we try to make the legalese and scientific mumbo-jumbo of the 21st century's frenetic advances, changes, and pace understandable to the general public. This means to the 8th-grade reader as well as the over-educated bagel-seller in midtown Manhattan.
This is for the little ones (see above). Our future.
